Since 12 July, Chile, 32 Mapuche political prisoners are on hunger strike in several Chilean prisons. From 1 September have joined the strike two minors are arrested and processed, increasing to 34 the total number of Mapuche political prisoners on hunger strike.
Most of them, including two minors are being tried under anti-terrorism law enacted under the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. In addition several of them are being tried twice for civilian and military courts to cumulative sentences, since Chile's military justice has jurisdiction to prosecute civilians.
